Replaced the pump and seals etc and still doesnt pump water. It was pumping a steady stream of smoke out of the hole.. only had the engone running for 5secs tho.. does it take longer for it to come up and pump out??

5 seconds is about right. Give it a couple more before giving up on it. Make sure you have the motor deep enough in the water.
