Johnson 25 running lean

Took the boat out and it was running great the all the sudden it started runnin like crap and coughing...could barley keep it running...used my hand to choke it and jumped up on top...had to play with the amount of air I let in to keep it running to get back to the ramp...carb should be fine...think it's fuel hoses

Did you try pumping the primer bulb when it acted up ??

its a 1994 johnson 25 hp. I pump the bulb when it acts up and dosent help anything. i took the fuel pump apart and found that there was some things messed up in there. (stupid ethanol). gonna do a carb job and rebuild the fuel pump and see if that helps. any other ideas
