Johnson 30 HP lower unit

I have a 1984 Johnson 30 HP with a bad lower unit (the housing is cracked and the gears are bad). I found a 35 HP Johnson with bad power head for sale, how would I determine if the lower unit will work on my 30 HP?
I would really like to get my boat in the water but I am having a very hard time finding a lower unit

I see that the gear case seal unit kit for Johnson/Evinrude 20, 25 HP (1985-thru), 30, 35 HP (1977-thru) has the same cat number OEM: 396351

so maybe you are in luck?
