Johnson 40 hp 2 cyc problems

Johnson 40 hp 2 cyclinder....oil coming out of prop & smokes - the new plugs getting wet with oil....the oil injection system below dash..new oil and gas...carbs cleaned...is it possible the oil injection system is faulty? Runs sickly..have to choke to keep running...new fuel pump last season ran good 6 trips-(7th trip died in the water) ---after carb clean runs very bad and won't idle without shutting down...some backfiring and missing (not as much now with new plugs) - fuel filter looks like more oil then gas...this is one great site and I can't believe all the info being passed around...

You could try disconnecting the oil side of the VRO pump and running 50:1 premix for awhile, to see if that fixes the problem.

VRO conversion w/ pump still working

if the fuel side on your Pump is still working it is very simple. unplug the 2 line harness going to the oil tank, unplug the 3 or 4 wire harness, going to the Vro pump. cut and cap the oil line going into the motor. add oil to fuel tank, mix well, then remove fuel line at top carb, catching gas in a container, pump the fuel line bulb until you get premixed gas to the carb. you can tell as it will change color. put line back on carb, and go boating.
