Johnson 48 mystery part?

My johnson 48 started running bad and missing and i was told it was the stator. I pulled the flywheel off and found two metal pieces stuck to the magnet on the flywheel. Can someone tell me what these pieces are? I have included pics but the pieces are thin and shiny like chrome.

Could this piece be part of the stator?

Need to look at the stator, if it is an 'exposed' coil type, i.e., not coated in epoxy, some use a small stainless 'clip' retainer to hold the indivual coils into place on the stator frame.

Inspect the stator, feel each coil and be SURE that none of the coils are loose, and free to slide in/out on the frame. The winding wire may be holding the loose coil into place for now, but if it is missing the retainer clip the slight movement will eventuall c ause the winding to fail.
