I have what I belive to be a 1988 Johnson 4 horse Delux. Model# J4RDHCC5. The motor has a decal on it which says DELUX. I found the "INTRODUCES" model lookup sequence. I belive the model numbers stand for Johnson, Rope start, Delux, 15" shaft, 1988, and am not sure what the 5 stands for. My question is, what does the DELUX stand for? The motor does have F-N-R and no internal tank. Thanks, Darrell

Deluxe means it comes with fries and gravy on the side !!:D:D

In reality though the deluxe has more bells and whistles on it than the regular one. Gearshift for one thing. Not certain whether the standard one would have the 180 degree swivel reverse instead. The "5" is just a suffix run number and does not mean a lot as far as I know.
