hello again thanks for the help, you guys are great. is there a web that i can go on to download a repair manual, parts or just some good info about the johnson 4rl79d motor? thanks again im glad there are some nice people that take the time to share what they know!!!!!!!!!!

your motor is a 1979 and here is a great web site to get your parts fromhttp://www.shop.evinrude.com I don't think you are going to find a downloadable shop manual so your best bet is to purchase one, you can buy them here on iboats or you might even find a deal on ebay.

My local library had nothing and a new one costs nearly the worth of the motor.
That said, my experience so far with mine is that many things are self-explanatory, especially with a bit of advice and guidance from the good people here.
