Johnson 50 - Low speed/idle problems

We have been having problems with our Johnson 50 acting up at low speed or idle. Motor will almost die out and then come back. After a couple of times of doing this, it will die unless the gas line bulb is pumped. At high speed - no problem. Coming back into the "No Wake" zone - dies out and then revs back up, etc. unless fuel bulb is pumped. Have changed fuel filter, spark plugs and fuel line and bulb. At low RPM, oil light and alarm will sometimes light up and sound off. Any suggestions???

what year is it. pumping the bulb, points to a fuel pump not keeping up, i can keep up at higher rpms, and but not a low. either that or you have a carb float needles sticking, and the higher rpms, puts more pressure on them, to open them. either way it sounds like a fuel delivery problem.

Thanks for the reply - the motor is a 1997. I thought it had to do with the carburetor but was hoping for something a little simpler. Thanks again.

If this is a built-in tank, check and clean your anti-siphon valve.
