Johnson 50 tilt / trim

My Johnson 50 hp trim stopped working because one of the aluminum plugs holding the spring loaded valves in formed a hole and leaked all my hydraulic oil out. My dealer wants $32 dollars for a new one and if I knew it would correct the problem I would go for it but this is the second one I have had with the same exact problem. Any ideas?

Let me guess. Saltwater? Are you washing it down regularly and completely?

Yes the second one was saltwater but the first one was off a freshwater motor I obtianed second hand with the plug already broken.
