I have a Jonhson 50HP 2004 model electric start/ power tilt J 50PLSR and would like to ask 2 questions.
1 If the engine runs out of fuel or oil or both will damage occur to the vro pump (excluding engine or alarms sounding etc for this instance)

2. If the engine is running or cranked and the sparkplug is shorted to earth (via engine Block)
will damage occur to any electric/electronic devices

thanks

Re: Johnson 50HP

If the engine runs out of oil or gas it will not damage the VRO pump. BUT - if the engine runs out of oil and you ignore the alarms you will not have to worry about the VRO pump because the engine will be severely damaged. If the engine runs out of fuel, the VRO pump can't be damaged because the engine is not running. Grounding a spark plug will not damage the ignition system. Just curious but these are rather odd questions. Why do you ask?

Re: Johnson 50HP

thanks upinsomke. I am new to this forum and tried to find any information in older questions etc but could not find. However I wanted to know just for information. I tried to find in the manual but could'tn find any specfic anserwers . Fox example in the event the engine stops when out at sea and would check for faults
ex fuel and spark I know that trying the spark to earth would not damage the electrics and be in a worse position that before. why cause some cars with elect. ignition when gr to earth could have the amplfier damage. 2. regarding the VRo I was told that running out of fuel could damage the pump. The only thing i could figure out seeing the VRO in johnsons w.s. manual all that could happen was that oil would still be injected so mostly the plugs could foul. However since I am only a keen diy just wanted second opinion
Thanks once again
