Johnson 55 propeller

Hi<br /><br />I have just bought a boat with a Johnson 55 (1978) outboard motor.<br />The propeller on the spline shaft does not have any washer, before or after the propeller, should there be a washer, between the propeller and gear housing? could the seals come out? or is the norm?<br /><br />Regards<br /><br />David

Should be a thrust washer behind the prop and a fiber star washer behind the prop nut.
