Johnson 60 HP Shift Rod Adjustment

I have a 2000 Model Johnson 60 HP. I reinstalled the lower unit after water pump replacement. When I start engine in neutral position, the propeller is in reverse. Do I need to turn shift rod to the lower unit clockwise or counter-clockwise to get back in neutral. Got my head spinning on this one.

The lower unit needs to come off.-----Then shifted in neutral.----Find the correct adjustment using ---Google----It is a dimension from mounting surface to center of the pin hole.----Important to get this set as gears are expensive !

Thanks Racerone for the reply. I went and dropped the lower back off and got it adjusted. It's hard to drop the unit without the shifter rod turning. Thanks for the help.
