Hi oilman.....

Couple possibilities come to mind right off.

When was the last time the carbs were overhauled? Have you checked your fuel lines on the engine for leaks or fuel lines that have gotten hard and "lost their grip"?

Look at the primer solenoid and make sure the red lever runs along the axis of the solenoid and is not off to the side.

When was the engine last tuned up?

Do you know what VRO pump you have? Look at the wiring harness from the VRO pump. How many wires do you see. If 4, you have the newer pumps.

You can pull the front carb cover off and run the engine and check to see if any one carb(s) is flooding.

The wire you repaired, what color was it?

Keep us posted...thanks.

Thanks for the help I have cleaned the carbs and checked the floats all ok ...solenoid working fine....wire I found broke was low level oil tank alarm...used a friends fuel tank and it runs fine so have now changed my fuel line and primer bulb..however the threads on both of my tanks where the outlet pipes fit are worn I have wound the outlet pipes with PTFE tape put they still move and when the tanks are full with the breathers shut they weep fuel could this affect my fuel prime although I dont really see how myself as it must be having the same affect as the breather allbeit to a lesser effect.
