Hi

My mate has been given a Johnson Seahorse motor. It's a 6HP and I think it's around 1978 mark.

The problem he has is these bolt's are seized. We cannot budge them

Any tips?

Thanks

James

The bolts that hold the motor on are seized?

If so, spray some PB blaster or other rust dissolver, (marvel mystery, deep creep) and let it soak for a day. Then put a vise grip on the head of the bolts and turn. If that doesnt work, put a blow torch to em. Theyll come out!!!

After soaking use vice grips to grab the end, tap the end of the bolt lightly with a hammer as you slowly turn with the vice grips.

If bolts are aluminum they will not come out with heat.----------Drill them out and replace.

but try soaking and resoaking first. Along with above suggestions, soaking with ATF can do good things. Thinking it might be salt water corrosion -- issues with stuck bolts the same, but might be some ideas out there specifically for salty motors.

Hi

Thanks for the help. We tried soaking them over night.
In the end we heated them up good and proper and managed to free them.

Thanks
