Johnson 7.5 1972

A friend told me that you could change a 1972 Johnson 7.5 into a 10 horsepower by only putting a bigger carb on it.Is there any truth in that.

First of all there was no 7.5 marketed in 1972.------Post pictures or model numbers.-------Your friend may well be misinformed.

Sorry I'm not sure of the year I do know it was a bit newer he just said you could turn 7.5 into a 9.9 and a 9.9 into a 15 by putting a larger carb on.Have you ever heard of that?

We hear that ALL THE TIME !----Some years you can turn a 9.9 into a 15 with a carburetor change , but not all years.--------The 7.5 can be turned into an 8 with some changes.
