Johnson 70 HP

I recently sprayed starting fluid in the carburator and it start right away. Without the fluid, I have a hard time starting. What does this mean. Is it harmful if I use this fluid all the time. Please help me with this matter.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />JP

Jimmy, never use starting fluid in your motor, there's no lubrication in the spray. You can damage things very quickly with starting fluid. Find a spray bottle and use pre-mixed fuel instead.<br /><br />BTW, keep your questions in one post, it's kinnda hard jumping around.

jimmy, history please. how long have you own it, when last ran. what have you tried. model #. the more you give the quicker and better the results.

I have a johnson 70 HP (1979). I used the starting fluid 3 time already. Will this hurt my motor. And if it is, what should I do now?

don't use it any more. take a squeeze or spray bottle and put premixed gas for you can in it. if you have to spray it to start it sound like a fuel delivery problem. check all your hoses, is the fuel line connected in the right direction, buld has arrow that should point to the motor, when was the last time the carb was rebuilt. i ask for history. you have'nt given any. i'm not searching for your other post.

Are you using the choke when you try to start it?? Did you pump up the bulb?? Advance the throttle a bit?
