1987 johnson 70 hp last time i was out ran good buttt on the way back in seemed to be missing on one cylinder kinda faded in and out ..miss .over the week i pulled the plugs the one on the bottom seemed a little loaded up .so swapped the plugs out .also checking my hoses found .on my hose from water pump to the p hole cracks in both ends were it slides on the fittings so replaced of course .my question is what the odds on that leak spraying my electrical and causing it to miss

Did you verify whether the hose was indeed leaking water under the cowl or did you just suspect it? To answer your question,Yes.A water stream making contact with one of the plug leads or ignition components could cause grounding of the ignition.

no i didnt fire it up ..it was definatley shot on the end were it slides on the fitting i could see threw the split and see the end of the fitting
