Hello,
I have a 1984 15ft, Boston whaler center console with a 1991 Johnson 70 hp large gearcase outboard motor. It currently has a 3 blade, stock pitch prop. I want to install a stainless steel, 4 blade propeller, Renegade part #176196. That is a 13 spline hub that fits the splined shaft but the stepped spacer does not fit the back of the hub properly. It is far to large on the o.d. and steps. I looked at the factory service parts manual and the service manual and there are no parts options or collars that I can see that would allow for this installation. The parts manual shows one for an aluminum prop but my aluminum prop does not have a collar that comes apart seperately from the prop when the prop is removed. With the oversized spacer installed, the stainless prop fits the length to the threads but there is no room for the water to move through the center of the hub. The spacer would prevent the water from moving through. Do they sell a properly sized stepped spacer that would be the correct size for the smaller back of the hub diameter of the stainless steel propeller? The smaller diameter back hub of the stainless steel propeller's hub also leaves a bit of a gap on the outer edge to the inside edge of the gear case opening. Is there a collar for this gap or is this ok? I could machine the proper spacer to be similar in proportion to the factory aluminum prop but my lathe is not large enough to swing a collar. Any direction of part numbers or who to call would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for this forum. Great reading.
