Johnson 8 HP no thermostat 2 cycle

Getting one , but previous owner run motor for years with out.. Am I loaded up with carbon???<br /><br />tx for your help.. ken

Hey Ken.....would be a good idea to check the shaker out first before you buy. Compression and spark would be good. If compression is good and the spark sufficent, may not be a bad buy. As far as the carbon issue......running without a t-stat dosen't do an engine any good. A good decarb might do wonders for it. And DO put a t-stat in if you get it.
