johnson 9.5 slippin in gear

i was out on the lake today headin for my fishing hole and i was bombing along nicely at WOT<br /><br />all of a sudden the engine started to reve up like mad ans i was slowing down<br />i dropped the throttle and it started to take grip again<br /><br />i though i had lost my prop at first buyt it seem he gears are slipping<br /><br />is there a clutch on these engines and would parts be hard to find<br /><br />i can drive the engine at about half throttle no problem but when it hbeats up it slips badly , any ideas???

Thru hub exhaust? Spun prop hub? See other posts for determining is prop hub is spun.<br /><br />Lower unit has a mechanical clutch which could be failing. Does it do the same in reverse, especially above idle in reverse?<br /><br />What year motor?<br /><br />Give us some info and maybe we can help you
