Well iv taking this out a few times and ran perfect. Untill the other night it would not run so i looked and my slow idle had been messed with from the kids and the rich lean was moved. I messed with them with no success. So i got some fresh gas and it started running but sputtered often at wot. So i go take it out today and it would not run at all. I pulled the plugs and they were wet, dryed them off and could get it started for a short time and noticed gas coming out of a little hole at the top of the carb. So is this a carb issue meaning rebuild, or do i need to adjust my setting? If it is the settings can someone give me a start point for like the slow idle and the rich/lean?

If gas is running out of the carb vent, you most likely have a needle and seat problem. Carb will have to come off and be overhauled.

Fuel overflowing out of float bowl, possible bad float, or valve stuck, or not sealing. Like daviet said, get a carb kit and do an overhaul, plus get a copy of the rebuild instructions.

i unscrewed the carb and as soon as the seal broke gas went everywhere so im guessing the float was letting to much in and it is a cork float. So il look around for a carb kit.

Re: johnson 9.5 spewing gas

cleaned the ports the best i could and adjusted the float to a spec i found on the net. Took the rich/lean and screwed it all the way in and backed it 1 1/2 turns out. Got it started and it stayed running with no gas spewing. Let it warm up a bit and started turning rich/lean out some more and motor started to clear up and run smooth then as soon as it started to go rough i backed it up a pinch and put it back together. If this works that would be good and il rebuild the carb this winter if it will hold out and work.
