there is a mid 70's Johnson on 9.9 hp eBay that the seller says is now a 15 hp (just by putting a 15 hp carb on it)says this is the only differance between the 2. I find this hard to believe what do you experts say?
Thanks, one more cast

That is the case with the eariler model 9.9hp OMC outboard engines. The later ones needed a couple other items changed, but still the carb alone would increase the power. Bottom line is that the statement is true.

Re: Johnson 9.9 to 15 , can this be correct?

I am currently in a debate on a vacation and I dont have my shop books with me. I could be wrong but a 1986 Johnson 9.9 to swap to 15 you need to change more than the carb... Is this correct I have made the change with a 77 9.9 and there was a major difference.. If someone can supply me what needs changed so my friend can see. I can prove it to him in the books when I get home but I am 200 miles away from them... Someones help or advice especially Joe Reeves. or anyone would be great..

Allan
