Hi,
I have a 9.9 johnson (J10ELCID) That had the upper powerhead water grommet blow. When I had pulled the powerhead and recovered the old one It looked much shorter than the one my parts dealer had giving me.Im also confused about how it goes back in.Any help would be great .

Thanks.

Re: Johnson 9.9 Upper Water Grommet

The orignal grommet was installed half on and half off of the water tube. The grommer had a small groove inside that fit over the flare at the end of the water tube. The Hot setup is to install the grommet completed on the water tube with the top of the grommet pushed up to the flare. This will cause the water tube now to be 1/4 inch short, unkink the bends and rebend to regain the 1/4 inch. This will last a long time, Approved OMC fix.
