I picked up this ad10 in ok shape back in the middle of summer. Did the ignition, carb and impeller when I got it. Fired up like a champ and has run perfect for me until now. At some point I believe someone converted it too a single line setup with a pump. I bought a tank and primer bulb with hose and connector when I brought the motor home. It started for me all duck season in 20 degree Temps on the 2-3 pull. Now It will not start at all unless I spray a gas/oil mix in the silencer. The primer bulb has never been perfect to me either, it never truly gets hard, and at any given point i can squeeze it down. Lakes are frozen overy now and duck season is at its end but I would love to get this motor back to tip top running shape again, I just have no idea where to start to fix this issue. Help appreciated!

Not enough information to make a diagnosis. So, will it run once you get it started on a squirt? If it does, I doubt there is anything seriously wrong with it. Obviously, it is freezing cold there, which may require some different starting techniques. Make sure you give it enough throttle (a tad above the marked "start" position, and choke it till it fires. It may help to open the high speed knob a quarter turn also, then put it back where it was once it starts. Short story is you aren't getting enough gas in it.

I wouldn't worry about the primer bulb. What you describe is not unusual.

Sorry I thought I gave enough F_R. It will run once i squirt the fuel mix in. I tinkered quite a bit with it yesterday and did find a broken hose clamp for a fuel line so I replaced that. I took apart the pump and made sure everything was Kosher. Through it back on the boat and in the barrel and tried pulling 3 or 4 times with no luck and then move the handle to top speed and it fired right up.

As Frank mentioned, sometimes tiller collars are off some, advance throttle more, past start, when starting. Also, as he mentioned, richen the needle half a turn, CCW, for the start. Some OMCS like that. Ensure there is nothing causing a lean condition, like the clamp you found. .

So this morning I figured I would fog it for winter and just do some PM. Changed lower gear oil and just checked over everything for looseness and what not. It sat in my basement over night. Stays a decent 55?, pulled it up, put it in a barrel of water that had to be about freezing and it fired first pull. I think maybe the loose clamp was drawing some air in and making it hard to start. Restarted without choke after an hour of sitting. Thanks guys!
