I got a Johnson 175 hp faststrike -93
The motor runs fine but when i running it at full speed it will after a little while start to beep (the alarm)
I think it´s wanna warn me for no oil, but the tank is full, and it beep a little random.
And its only beep when i got full speed, if i close down just a little it stop warning???
Can it be that the enginen doesnt get enough gas
Cause the alarm should beep countinusly when it warn for that... i mean is it maybe on the edge to to little gas???

Thanks from Sweden

Re: Johnson Alarm

One cause for the alarm "May be" obstruction's in the fuel line. Dis-connect the lines, blow them out and see if that helps.

Re: Johnson Alarm

Daniel,

I can't say for sure that the cause of your problem is the same, but I had the same symptoms on the same model and same year.

I had bad gas + fuel stabilizer + storage = liquid jelly for fuel that clogged the the VRO pump and all of the fuel system. Whenever I went above 3/4 throttle, the alarm would sound the low oil warning. It took several attemps and the factory tech to debug and fix. All of the lines were replaced, carb jets cleaned, VRO replaced, internal lines replaced, etc.

- check and clean fuel lines and tank pick-up
- check and clean fuel tank vent
- check and clean oil lines and tank pick-up
- change fuel filters
- drain and replace with new gas
- eventually my VRO pump failed due to the viscousity of the oil/fuel mix

VRO CODE
continuous tone [all rpm] = overheat
continuous tone [~WOT] = fuel restrictions
continuous short tones = no oil
short tones every 40sec = low oil

good luck - cliff

Daniel,

Also not a bad idea to remove and clean the VRO tank. No one ever does this.

Replace the pick up sock on the VRO pick up also.

If you have not done this previously, I think you'll be surprised what is in there.
