Hello everyone AWESOME SITE
I'd just like to say hello to all and show you the beginning of my '70 Johnson 9.5/ Crestliner restoration.
While waiting for the ice to melt and dreaming about fishing again I bought this little crestliner/johnson combo for back lakes fishing.
I've just finished the engine cowl and decals on this mint running motor.
I'm waiting for the decals to "set" before I clear coat with acrylic lacquer for durability.
It was in pretty rough shape appearance wise but runs like a champ.
I hope you like the before and afters
I'm happy to be a member of your great forum
I will have to resize my photos, upload to follow

Thanks for all your info

Very nice.

Are you going to paint the lower portion of the engine too?

What kind of shape is the boat in? Yes, many of us are waiting for the ice to go away to go fishing again.

Howdy! Welcome! Great job on that cover. Looks like new. Gotta love it when a plan comes together. Looking forward to seeing the whole thing put together.

Yes I'm going to do the shaft too- as soon as it warms up I'll pressure wash it (its -28 celsius with the wind chill today)!
The lower is pretty greasy
The boats in very good shape I peened every rivet with hammer and dolly.
Will post up some pics soon
This was just a little indoor project while I await spring.
Then I'm gonna do my 14 ft Grew- will start a project thread soon, took some pics yesterday.
Thanks for the input.

Cheers

Re: Johnson\Crestliner Restoration & Hello

Hi Guys
Just thought I'd update my thread with a few boat pics till I can get some decent weather to paint the shaft of my outboard... acrylic lacquer "gasses" off for days till it cures. I like to keep my wife happy and somewhat sober.
Unfortunately I had a camera card go bad on me, so i don't have any before pictures.
Here's a couple before I did the motor though.
New benches and interior/ exterior paint. Trailer next, (got whole bag of led lights for 2 trailers)
Nothing serious just a little back lakes tinny.

Cheers

Nice. I like those light weight fishing setups. So easy to trailer.
I have to get new wire and lights for my trailer as well. Then do the wheel bearings.
I can't wait til Spring though.

Spring won't come soon enough for me.
It's sunny and -28 c with wind chill here today....again.
I'm off for a couple days and would like to work on my bigger boat.
This rig tows like a feather... mono leaf spring and shocks.
Thanks for the input

If he's spamming, post links to the other threads here or mail them to an admin. From what I can see in this thread, looks like he's using the board for what it's meant for....

Hi Eric
It wasn't me- there was a long rambling manifesto that had no meaning to this thread. It was a full page long. A mod must have removed it. I couldn't even get through half of what the clown was saying.
On a more positive note, I'm getting ready to go work on my other boat.

Have a good day

Where'd you get your decals? I've got a '68 that needs decals and a paint job.
