Johnson/evinrude enforcer 35HP powerhead issues

am reinstalling my powerhead after complete overhaul and am having issues getting it to seat with the midsection. i have tried just about everything aside from throwing it on the ground and beating it with a sledge hammer so if you could help out with any previous encounters similar to mine and a couple good ideas to get it to seat please reply in a hurry im still at work!!! haha thanks

we dont have serial numbers nor paperwork on yearmodels we are running 30 and 35 hp Johnrude Enforcers for Military and i had two, one crap lower and one crap powerhead and did two overhauls and the powerhead is giving me major issues with seating back on its midsection. most of our 35's are 1988 or newer nothing newer than 95 i dont think.
