Re: johnson& evinrude parts

The best deal is not always the best deal. Be leary of online purchases from 3rd party dealers. The last time I bought parts online they were wrong, and the return policy was clearly designed to discourage my making a return.

The dealer is most always more, but you see what you are getting and can exchange if wrong.

TC outboard is a fantastic source for hard to find vintage parts. I've been buying a lot from there lately (and my local dealer).

Describe what you consider the "best deal".

Are you talking price only? OE parts or aftermarket? And someone who knows which is better? Someone with good, sound & friendly advise? Or someone who won't talk to you? Someone who is willing to advise you and also willing to do the work for a reasonable cost if needed?

What parts you looking for muskrat?

Some parts are captive parts and can only be gotten through a dealership.

Some parts can be bought through aftermarket vendors....electronics, starters and the like can be equal to or better than OEM.

Some parts, IMHO, should only be gotten through an OEM vendor....like carb kits.

You can also go through some boating mags and find vendors selling new OEM parts at discount prices.

Big market. Shop around for what you need.
