I am possibly buying another boat in the near future that has a Johnson Faststrike 150hp outboard motor on it. It's probably around a 1998 model. I have a friend who will only look at boats with yamaha or mercury motors, but he did say that the fast strike is the only johnson he actually would consider because it has a good reputation. Just curious what people's experience have been with the Faststrike series. Overall, do you consider it to be a good model? Thanks in advance!

Its pure junk. I'll do you a favor and let you send it to me.

Seriously, the 60 degree motors have been one of the best units E/J made. Light, compact, quick revving and they make real good torque. Very nice units.

I have a 1994 150 Johnson FastStrike on a Ranger 375V and couldn't be happier. It runs really fast and smooth. Only problem has been the starter Solenoid. I had to replace it. Great motor.

my neighbors have a javelin w/ a 115 fastrike on it and i have been in the boat many times and it runs great sounds great and looks good too. they bought it new about 8 years ago and the thing still runs like the day he bought it. Im no johnson fan, as i am mercury loyal, but i can tell you that that engine has never missed a beat and runs great with no problems.
