Hey Guys,

Last year I bought a 1995 HydraSports HydraSkiff with a 1995 Johnson 90 V4 from a friend, and he gave me very little paperwork with it...

My question is I'd like to change the filter in the fuel/water separator, but I have no idea which filter to use. The only info I could find on the outer casing was "Johnson - 502905" I'm assuming that is the part number for the entire unit - anyone know which filter to use? Which micron level, etc.?

I went to my local marine store and all they had was complete Racor units...

Thanks in advance,

Try a Johnson dealer. Or change it to a Racor. They are inexpensive and filters are easy to find. Just a thought.

Sandrover, I have a 1994 Johnson 150 that I ordered a new fuel/water separtor filter from ishopmarine.com the other day and I ordered part number 502905. I couldn't see the part number on my filter, but it is an OMC filter. Hopefully it is the correct filter. Cost was $8.81.

Take the old one out and go to a different marine store. These are common items.

lowranger, how long can you use the Racor you mentioned until you have to replace it. I realize it can be drained, but is there a limit as to how many times you can drain it?

Re: Johnson Fuel/Water Separator

Thanks, lowranger. I appreciate the info. I wonder if you would still have to replace the element if you were not getting any water in the lower bowl? I have had my boat for 10 years and have only changed the OMC filter once and am doing it again this year. I probably should do it more often, but never have had a problem. Actually, I tend to forget it is even there as my old boat never had one of these. Thanks again.
