Trying to decide if and how i should remove the oil injection system.... Sees like i don't use my boat but 2 or 3 times a year... Seems like it was better on my old boat with a cutoff valve for the fuel that was already premixed.... Question is can I and should I go back to the old way of doing it and if not how can I maintain the boat to where i don't have carb problems at the beginning of every year? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

are you thinking the oil injection is the cause of your annual carb problems??

dont see how....the carb gets premixed oil wether it comes via the oil pump or premixed from the gas tank!

I think carb problems stem from putting away a boat for the winter with out properly winterizing the motor!!

Given the choice you have with that motor the vro is just something else to worry about failing. If it does and for some reason you don't get an alarm....goodbye power head.
Get my drift? I mix mine.

The reason the pol pump VRO situation gives me the problem is with previous motors you could cut the gas off and run it dry before leaving the lake thus solving the problem that I am having which is having gas in the carbs and it turning to varnish between runs.

I have always lightly mixed mine cuz i was always scared of the pump failing.... My issues are more with having a way to cut the gas/oil off completely to run it dry after each trip... I am disabled and can only go once or twice a year by the time i go the next time I end up having huge carb problems already had to have 2 kits installed due to gas staying in the carbs and evaporating turning to varnish.....
If there is a safe way to remove this system and install a cut off valve on the gas thats what I would like to do.... just need to make sure I'm disconnecting the oil pump correctly any info would be helpful.....

without removing the oil injection system I can't put a cut off valve on the gas... I would like to be able to run the boat completely out of gas by cutting the gas off if i did that with the VRO installed then it would pump strait oil in the carbs..... the gas evaporating and turning to varnish inside the carbs is my annual problem... If i fished more than once or twice a year then it wouldn't be an issue cuz it wouldn't have time to give me the problem...

I have heard that many of the mechanics think it is a bad idea to run the carbs dry ....what happens is this, one or two of the carbs run out of gas, but the others dont, and they keep the motor running, thus you are not getting gas OR OIL in the cylinders fed by the carbs that ran dry first.....that leads to galling of the cylinder walls, or worse.

you could take the motor hood off, and open the float bowl drain screws and drain all the carbs...

I guess that might prevent gumming up of the needle and seat for the float....dont know about all the other passages..

dont know where the boat is in realtion to where you live.....if its in the yard, you could put muffs on it and run her every month.
