Johnson keys

I just bought a 1988 50hp johnson o/b. I recieved only one key with this unit. My local hardware store cannot make a copy. Anyone have a good idea where I can get another key???

I just took my only Merc key to the local locksmith to see if he could duplicate it. He didn't have the proper blank, but was able to locate the key on his computer system, and is in the process of ordering two duplicates. You might try your local locksmith.

mdka,<br /><br />I find that odd. My local ACE hardware had no trouble duplicating a key for my 83 Rude.<br /><br />Also,<br /><br />Look on the switch itself. There should be a two digit code on the plastic part the key goes into. If you can find that, your local dealer can order you a key. There aren't that many combinations.
