CD-14 is a 1957 and there is no such thing as a powerhead bearing kit. In fact there is no such thing as replaceable bearings in the powerhead. The main bearings are cast into the crankcase and the connecting rod bearings are cast into the rods.

Very good to know, So a little slack in a rod bearing becomes even more expensive. Does anyone know if the rods are available? Possibily the crank?

376422 rod is listed as no longer available. Somebody like Sea-Way Marine may have it though.
304109 crankshaft is available but you don't want it. It is $347.53.

Around here, you can buy as many of those outboards as you want for less than that crank costs. Going price for a good-running CD is about $150-200. Sometimes junk is junk and is only good for being a parts donor.

I think there are half a dozen of them on the local Craigs List right now. Heck, $350 will buy you one of several late 60s or early 70s 6hp johnnyrudes that run perfectly.

Thanks for the info, The motor belonged to my buddys granddad. It has a certian amount of sentimental value to him, so he wanted to try to rebuild it. I sugested that he just run it till it gives up, then hang it on the wall, Since he will only be running it on a 6 acre lake. I think Ill just give him a paddle for his birthday:D

Have your friend keep an eye out for another one that runs well...maybe an ugly one, then swap out the powerhead. Not much of a job, and he'd have his working outboard for many years. If he's patient, he'll find a bargain. That's what I'd do if the outboard had sentimental value and I wanted to hang on to it.
