They use the same base gasket, but the block numbers are different.
I would almost bet they would interchange.
Why do you need to swap them?

Powerhead only---maybe. Cylinder head and intake manifold are different because of the different hoods. Possibly recoil starter, carburetor linkage, and whatever also. For the same reason.

The cowls are different, the johnny has a front/back split the evinrude has a side split. The manifolds on the johnny have thread holes for the metal threaded loops so the cowl won't be able to mount securely. You might be better off finding a cowl as well. The pull starts are different as well, the johnny has a blocking plate whereas the evinrude doesn't.

I do believe the heads are the same, but for the Evinrude shrouding, you'll need to get the mounts that screw onto the ends of the tabs. The rubber balls on the Johnson shrouds, fit into the rounded sockets that you see on the back side of the heads.

Like bktheking said, you'll need to find a hand starter to match the shroud that you have. You might be better off getting the shroud with the powerhead to avoid the hassles of replacing the hand starter and getting the pieces that mount on the heads and front brackets.

One of these days, I want to build a swatch motor. Build a 10hp with each part from a different year, so each part is a different color.:D:D
