Hi,

I want to start stripping down my 60hp Johnson to repaint and just want to know if the nuts and bolts used are of metric or imperial type.

I want to buy a socket and spanner set, but not sure of the type to purchase.Any help on this topic would be appreciated.

Regards

Unless it is a rebadged Japanese one it'll need Imperial AF spanners. Like we used for all our cars until the early 1970s.
Even the Belgium made ones are imperial AF.

They dont know what "metric" is in the USA :D

Check by measuring across the flats with a vernier. Metric ones are round numbers of mm. The inch AF ones are in fractions of an inch.

You'll find only a limited range of sizes needed so dont buy a whole set. Just get the sizes you need.

All fastener's are standard. Only the two nut's that hold the control cable's are 10mm metric.
