Johnson power tilt & trim on a Evinrude

Hi to all, can I install a Johnson mid 80's power tilt on a Evinrude 40hp 1966 elec start?

if you can rig up the saddle to fit then a 1980's style two ram trim can lift anything. However, rigging up the saddle is not nearly as easy as it looks. have you looked at power jack plates?

When I attempted to change over, what rigging issues could I run into with the saddle? I'm getting a good deal on the power tilt and I was wondering because of the year difference, could they be a close match. I checked around for some used jack plates, but for my old motor, I could not find any, I'm in Canada and all of the good prices are in the U.S. I would like to keep the cost low as possible.

imo, if you are getting a really good deal and it is the two ram saddle type .... then wash it up and sell it. they command top dollar. you might get enough to pay for a jack plate with power trim built in.

Try CMC.com. They make some t/t units easy to install.

First thanks for the info, but I still need to know how do you/I measure the power tilt & trim and what issues can I run into if I change over? I don't have any idea on how long the tilt will last to clean and sell it to someone and then they return it. I will contact CMC to see what they have in stock but still looking for the info please.
