Johnson QD 10 hp motor tilt

I heard there is no such thing as a dumb question, so...

I have both a 55 and 60 johnson 10 hp QD motors. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to change the tilt of the motor. I can see the piece that will move to a different slot to change the tilt, but I cannot figure out how to make it move (release/lock lever is set to release).
I cannot figure out how to get the bar (arrow) past the little knobs (circle) that are cast into the body.

I need to get this figured out as I cannot use the motor until I can tilt it up due to shallow launch site.
Any suggestions?

Hi there, in order to change the tilt, set the release/lock lever to release (as you've done). Raise (tilt forward) the whole motor (assuming it's mounted) and then move that lever into whichever slot/knobs you desire.

I thought I had tried that, but perhaps I am being too gentle.

I'll give it another shot with the motor securely mounted.

Well, I ended up getting it to move doing just as you said. It appears it was a little stiff and I was being way to gentle.
