I think I know what the problem is, but looking to get opinions/confirmation from people better at this stuff than me!!!
Here's what happens...
I launch the boat and warm up the motor. Idle speed for a few minutes until I am allowed to go WOT. But when I go WOT I only get about 3000 rpms. Once on each trip, which is only 2 times now, it will get up to 5500 rpms for about 30-45 seconds then goes back to only 3000 rpms. This happens in the begining of the trip when the motor has not been running a any length of time. It idles with no problem. I think the problem is the coil on the top cylinder. Here's why... The motor ran the same way when a part of the carb broke and was not working properly on the same cylinder. I have fixed the carb problem. I do have new spark plugs. In the begining stages of fixing the motor I do recall having a problem getting the top spark plug to show me a spark when I had it out of the motor.
Just FYI: On the water I tried squeezing the primer ball and the rpms did not pick up. I try bumping the choke and the motor starts to die, normal I believe.
Like I said, I think it is the coil on the top cylinder. Can someone please agree or point me in the right direction for fixing, thanks!
I have priced the coil and it is not too bad. Is the coil on of those things that if 1 goes the other is soon to follow? If the problem is the coil should I just go ahead and replcae both?
