Johnson Sea-Horse 6hp --- Missing Serial Number Plate --- Year?

Picked up the above motor from an auction and the plate with the serial number is missing. Trying to figure out what year it is.

Motor runs good. Changed the lower unit oil and it looked pretty dirty(no metal that i could tell). After letting it idle for awhile to check to make sure the impeller was working I drained the lower unit oil again (pic). Wondering if this is normal for a motor that may have sat for awhile.

One more question, the little plastic/nylon? washers that are attached to the drain/vent bolts ... what are these called and where would I get new ones. Can I use rubber or brass washers instead.

thanks
k

Go to http://www.old-omc.de/ and compare paint/decals.

The drain/fill plug gaskets are part number 311598 at any Evinrude dealer, or 18-4248 here at iboats.

Thanks F_R.

Almost positive they have to be changed. Put the motor on a 12ft and took it out for a short run and seems to run great. Gonna check the lower unit again to see what it looks like in the morning.
