I have a Johnson SeaHorse 5.5hp year 1955 CD12 S/N 1319819. I have the option to buy an original operating manual for the year 1954 5.5hp CD11. My question is: were there any changes from year 1954 to year 1955 that would make buying the 1954 manual useless for information? Thanks for any and all info. Bob

I don't know Johnsons real well, but there wasn't much difference between these years with OMC/Evinrude...except the recoil rope mechanism was different (better). If you don't have to have an original factory manual, the Intertec manuals are pretty good. There are two volumes, one for 30 hp and below and the other for 30 hp and greater. Each covers a wide range of models and years. You might find this or the exact manual you want on Ebay motors, boats & watercraft, parts and accessories categories.

Re: Johnson Sea Horse Manual 1954 vs 1955

I have a 1954 seahorse and everytime I try to find information about it, it's always 1955 and up...nothing on 1954. :( So, having said that, I think that they are probably some differences between 54 and 55.

Just curious...Do you have a pressure gas tank or the "normal" one. (Gas connector with air and gas side by side...)

kbec,
I believe it is a regular one. Pulled the motor out of storage from 27 years this past weekend. I plan on playing with it this weekend. I must have put the tank in the other garage was not next to it. Thanks Bob
