Johnson Seahorse 10

Can anyone tell me what the year of my Johnson Seahorse 10 model OD 14 Serial # 1028048 and its value today. It had only been used a few times when my husband bought in in s0metime between 1965 and 1970. We started it up to make sure it ran well but never used it so it is in excellent condition.

Actually that's a QD-14. Year is 1953.

Price is variable if the engine is in good shape and where you live...such as in an area with restricted hp lakes. Although it runs, some maint will surely have to be completed on the engine.

I would think that $250 > $350 would be a ball park for the engine in good running shape and condition.

Much lower if a lot of maint needs completed.

These old tens are gems when running well....smooth and very responsive to throttle. I see a number of them around here where I live in Ohio.

Hello Rayland,

Thank you. It was older than I thought. It has been stored in the original padded cover all these years. I had forgotten about it until I found it boxed with some of my late husbands things. Now to find someone who will know how to start a motor that hasn't been run in over 30 years. Think I will have my son take it to someone around Lake Texoma to look at. Certainly no one out here in West Texas.

Hooleyann....if the engine is in excellent condition...ie...the appearance is really good, you may want to consider maybe seeing if a collector would want it. They are always looking for engines that look like new. There are several web sites that are about antique outboards so if you get a chance, just search up "Antique Outboards". You may be surprised at how many there are.
