I have recently bought a seahorse 20hp. It hadn't run for 2 years and wasn't flushed after it's last use. Needless to say I didn't hold out much hope.

However, to my surprise, it started on the third pull and ran without any problems for 2 hours straight before I took the boat out of the water.

The only problem was a lot of smoke/steam, and I mean an unusual amount. Could anyone suggest a reason for this? I thought it may be a rich air/fuel mix but am not to good with outboards.

Any help would be great

Cheers

Russell

P.S. Am using a 50:1 oil mix and good quality oil.

When you say steam, is the engine over-heating? Can you hold your hand to the block?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

How can I tell if it's white smoke or steam? Will try and put my hand on the block.

Cheers
