Before I even start asking this question, I would like to make is very clear my knowledge of boat engines is very limited
With that said, I am thinking of buying a Johnson Seahorse 60hp motor. The model number is VXL-12M. According to the owner, the choke solenoid does not work, however he says the manual choke works fine.
Now, my current Johnson Seahorse 40hp has a manual choke that I use, it's under the a little lift door on the top of the engine which I am sure most of you already know what I am talking about.
Since the 60hp motor has a choke solenoid not working, would that mean that I would simply run the choke just like the choke on my 40hp model? Would there be any significant problem with the choke solenoid not working? Again, talk to me like a 5 year old as this is my first boat as owner and know very little about boat motors.
Also, I did a some searching in Google for a choke solenoid, but no luck, but that's probably operator error. Can you still find choke solenoids for that motor? Also, if I could find a choke solenoid, is that a difficult replacement? I am comfortable working on car motors including light electrical if that helps.
Thanks.
