Hello, I have a Johnson Seahorse 5.0hp 809913 tn-26 and would like to know the fuel oil mix ratio, and if finding another prop is possible. Also a manuel on this motor. Thanks

Re: Johnson Seahorse

TN26 = 1950-51 5hp
Oil ratio = 24:1
Try outboardbooks.com, they might have a manual, or sometimes you can find manuals on Ebay. Make sure and get an OEM manual if you can, will cost a little more but well worth the money.
Sometimes you can even find parts on Ebay.

Re: Johnson Seahorse

Actually the original premix ration is 16:1 - 1/2 pint per gallon.

Todays TC-W3 oils are so much better than the old automotive non-detergent 30W lubes that were used back then so 24:1 will work OK in it, unless it is very worn internally and needs that extra oil to run right at low speeds.

The engine has brass bushing instead of roller bearings inside it so lubrication demands are a lot greater.

I believe that the latest mix recommendation for those early TNs is 20:1.

They have been run at 24:1 for about 50 years, so I see no risk involved in continuing that ratio.

Just be sure not to heed any advice you may get to run a leaner mix.

Re: Johnson Seahorse

The third port design of those motors is sensitive to wear. Once it is worn, it is gone. For that reason, and also to help seal it, I suggest you run 16:1 like it was designed for.

There were tons of those motors made, and also the Gale 5D10 models. So there should be used props around. I probably have one or two myself.

Re: Johnson Seahorse

Thanks for all the replies I should be set on fuel mix. I would like to obtain another prop if someone has one available and a price I would appreciate that. Thanks again
