(J)115EL76(G) is the model number for your 1976 115HP Crossflow V4 Johnson.

The trailing (G) is for the manufacturing run within the year

The serial number is for your specific motor.

Ok what year is it by chance? I was told it is a 85 but looking at the number I think its a 76?

J means it is a Johnson
115 is the horsepower
E means it is electric start
L means it is long shaft
76 means it is a 1976
G means nothing unless you are ordering parts for it. It signifies any mid year changes that might have been made.

BTW, the BRP sites don't list the motor, but the parts catalogs for the 1976 115 Evinrude models are the same except for paint and decals.
