Johnson Side Mount Control Set Up

I got a 1978 Johnson 140Hp Outboard and Johnson Side Mount Controls.
Here are some pictures, of the controls. I am hoping someone might be able to tell me what the wires are for. On the bottom of the controls are 4 wires, one red, 2 black & a grey. The Red and one black, maybe both black go to the ignition, while the grey goes into the main wiring for the motor.

Where do I connect these wires to?
Do I connect any these wires directly to battery?

I found this thread though a google picture search. For some reason I can't see the pictures you posted, but from the google search photo, it looks like the same control I have for my 78 70hp Johnson. Mine only has 2 wires coming out, gray and black, which run to the tack. My guess is you are correct and the other two are power. Might be why my tack doesn't seem to work well...
