Re: johnson starting trouble

look between the transom mount clamps for a plate with the model #. i can think of several things, dirty carb, stuck float needle, points, coils, condensers. tell me more of what you have done, history on the motor, has it been asleep for a while, and you are reawakening.

Re: johnson starting trouble

the boat has been asleep for 10 years i've cleaned the carb pressurized the fuel line with it disconnected from the carb fuel came out hook it up tried to start didn't start put some fuel directly into carb it ran for a minute then died checked to see if gas is spurting into carb don't see any then we disconnected fuel line from carb it was pressurized i think the floats are stuck and not letting gas into carb model # vxl-13a

Re: johnson starting trouble

first don't beleive it is a 67. know it is thats why i ask for the model number. WHAT"S THE NUMBER? here's a thread on carb adjustments.

have you checked compression, what are the numbers? spark? jump 3/8 to 1/2 inch on all cylinders.

there are 3 basics, for this engine to run and they all have to be right.
1/ proper compression 2/ proper spark & timing 3/ proper air, fuel, oil delivery.
