Well I managed to revive the old 5hp 49' Johnny. All I need that I'm aware of is the leather seals for the primer. Not a huge issue. The recoil spring broke so I'm starting it the ole fashioned way...wrap and pull. Plug boots, new plugs, and some condensers(slight mod to fit). She ran fairly well in a bucket. Was sneezing quite a bit. Found the carb mount nut and screw were not tight...reckon that's why it was lean sneezing? It seems it wanted to run faster the more I enriched the low speed...thought is was supposed to peak right the closer to lean you go. Any ideas? I'm gonna attach it to the Jon boat and fill a large garbage can full of water. I figure the shallow bucket had enough cavitation to cause the higher speeds as well. Also someone in its past filled the gearcase with oil (supposed to be grease) what kind of grease work well in there? Thoughts?

Update. I ran it in a trash can and it runs fine for a while then dies. It lean snorts right before it dies...I think maybe the carb needs recleaning. Maybe a kinked copper fuel line?
