Johnson to Mercury Outboard Bolt Pattern The Same?

Thinking of swapping out my old 1993 Johnson 88 SPL for a 1999 Mercury XR6 150. Is the bolt pattern the same on these 2 outboards? If not is a jack plate a good option to solve this? Also any opinions on the 99 150 Mercury XR6 would be appreciated. It is for my 1975 Steury 18'4" center console rated for 160hp. Thanks for everyone's time as always.

The bolt pattern is the same. The steering cable will fit. the gas line can be converted. The controls and wiring are not convertable. If both motors have the same shaft lenght, there will be no issues. Your old boat likely takes a 20" (longshaft) motor. Make sure the Merc is the same.

The merc is a good motor.

No , ! They are not the same. Measure across the top 2 bolts and then across the bottom 2 bolts and then take a measurement from the hight between the 2. No merc outboard is the same bolt pattern as OMC.

Its identical, already did it last summer when I asked the question. Thanks for the response though.

The bolt pattern is ABYC standard for mid sized engines on both motors.
