I have a Johnson model BF2TS.97 trolling motor, that has died after working great for a while. There has been no changes to the batteries or wiring to the unit. I don't have a wiring diagram or know how to continue troubleshooting the problem. What I've done so far is:(1) the plug into the bow panel is 4 conductor, and I have 12 volts from two of these conductors. There is only a 2 conductor wire from the plug to the foot control. I have 2 12 volt batteries supplying voltage and was wondering if I'm supposed to have 24 volts going into the trolling motor.(2) I have 12 volts inside the foot control. (3) continuity verified when the foot switch is depressed. (4) The speed control switch has 3 positions for the three different motor speeds. I don't have voltage output from this switch, so it appears to be suspect at this point.

My best guess is that something has happened to reduce the voltage from 24 to 12 and it will not work on 12 volts, or the 3 speed switch is bad.

Suggestions on what to do next or where to get a wiring diagram would be appreciated.

Re: Johnson Trolling Motor

fred c:
This might not be the best help but try
http://www.johnson.com/docs/100000/0_US.htm
then click on find a dealer. You then can email
or call a dealer in your area. They can order you
a service manual for 29.95 which will have your
wiring diagram in it.

Hope that helps a bit
Link
